Steps to earn money from youtube in Nepal in 2021
Now, this guide is completely focused on money-making through YouTube in a legit fashion. Therefore, getting into details, below are the steps that one needs to complete.
1. Enable Monetization
Some people say get sponsorship, donations, and all those facts. But when you start out, nobody really knows you and there are a few chances of getting sponsors until your channel is super popular with millions of subscribers. Therefore, as a startup YouTuber, one should aim for enabling the in-built YouTube monetization feature first. To do this, you will need:
- 1,000 subscribers
- 4,000 hours of watch time
It should take only a few months depending upon your frequency of posting videos and optimizing them to reach the monetization goal. If you really research the topics you create videos around, it should only take 2-3 weeks to complete that milestone. Now, you might be wondering how do I post so many videos in such a little time? Just keep reading.
2. Collect “Creative Commons” Videos
If you are that lazy type of guy who feels bored doing all the editing stuff, narration and combining clips into one using various software, then this industry is not for you. Better find a new job because it’s the most boring and time-consuming part of YouTubing. But if you have that energy, patience, and time, be ready to jump to the next level.
To complete the goals, we will be doing search engine optimization of our youtube channel and making videos around topics that are widely and popularly searched. If we can’t record the clips ourselves, we can use a special feature and license known as “Creative Commons”. It is a special type of license that allows you to download a video, edit or modify it, and then republish it into your own channel. You are free to modify the title, thumbnail, descriptions, video tags, and almost everything to get views and make money without getting copyright strikes.
The best part about this is that it saves money for buying an HD camera, microphone, and other devices to record clips. The video owner will not dispute uploading their videos as they want you to share those clips everywhere.
3. Download & Edit Videos
Once we’ve found videos that are listed under creative commons, the next step is to download and edit videos. Some popular tools for this work are:
- ANT Download Manager
- Internet Download Manger (IDM)
- TubeBuddy (Android Only)
Similarly, for the mixing of clips, my favorite software are:
- Pinnacle Studio Ultimate (Premium Software)
- Techsmith Camtasia
- Windows Movie Maker
- Viva Video Pro (For editing on android devices)
4. Schedule Videos
You can prepare like 5 to 10 videos per day for a whole month and then schedule them at the right time when most internet users are active. The schedule time depends upon the type of audience and location that you are targetting. Think like this, you prepare 5 videos in a day, they become 35 in a week. And if you schedule one video per day, your channel is loaded for the next 35 days.
5. Display Advertisements & Make Money
Once you put the videos on your channel and enable monetization, you can put advertisements via Google Adsense and make money. Once you send an application to Adsense, they will review your channel. Just make sure that your channel is not based upon any explicit material and violence-related stuff. After approval, you can place ads anywhere on your channel, including multiple ads after 2-3 minutes of clip duration. It’s disturbing for a personal or brand channel to place advertisements, but it is okay for the channel which is solely made for the purpose of making money.
Additional Tips For Growing A YouTube Channel
Below are some of my tried and tested methods for growing a youtube channel.
1. Invest in production
YouTube is all about building a fan base. And when you invest more money in production, you will get more followers. For lazy people, just creative commons videos might work. But for those who want to go beyond that, learn to edit videos like a pro. Learn to put the transitions, overlays, voiceovers, creating multiple layers, 3D Animations, and so on. Follow some of the top youtube channels like MrBeast, Fact Techz, etc. to get creative ideas about putting your videos together. Make use of annotations in your videos.
Although the previously recorded CC video might contain sound, if you invest in your own microphone and put a separate voiceover to describe things, it’s a better idea. For some reasons, like if there’s a language barrier, you can hire voiceover artists through freelancing platforms such as Fiverr, UpWork, etc. Since Nepal now has an official MasterCard, payments should not be an obstacle.
2. Prepare Script & Upload Transcript
If you check successful youtube channels, 95% of them are using a script. So, do not hesitate to show your creativity by writing a script and making videos accordingly. Similarly, a transcript is a file that is responsible for displaying the subtitles underneath the video. If the video language is spoken in English, Youtube creates auto-generated subtitles. But for some reason, as it is still under development, the auto-generated transcript fails to give proper words where the audio is not clear. Therefore, it is a good approach to prepare your own custom transcript in English as the YouTube algorithm checks captions and subtitles to rank videos.
3. Make Use Of Extensions
If we want to optimize our YouTube channel, we need to put the right keywords and phrases on the description, titles, and search tags. One of the common methods to find such keywords is by using YouTube’s autosuggest feature. However, in some cases, we need to do more research, which is not provided by autosuggest. Therefore, use Chrome extensions such as Social Blade, VidIQ, and TubeBuddy to steal your competitor’s keywords, analytics, and tags.
4. Add Clickbait Thumbnails & Titles
Clickbait is something that encourages people to click on your video when they search for a particular keyword. If you take click baits positively, it could help a lot. Now, if your video is about horses and you put the thumbnail & title of a dog, it’s against the policies of YouTube.
A better idea is to use a frame inside the video which is more appealing, take its screenshot, and edit with software like Canva or Photoshop. You can add bold text inside the thumbnail, enhance its brightness, contrast, and saturation plus add some emotional emojis and arrows. A simple concept about clickbait is to be different from the crowd. Use colors other than red, white, and black while making the image as such colors are found everywhere on YouTube. Instead, something like green and sky blue is found more appealing. Below is an simple thumbnail that I made for one of my videos on a different channel.
For titles, use numbers, brackets, and power words to make clickbait but don’t go off track by misleading your audience.
5. Further Optimization
All the search engines, including YouTube, rank videos and websites based on the keywords. To optimize your channel more, find all the tags and keywords used by your competitors to appear in search results. Use extensions that are mentioned above for assistance. There is a feature known as ‘Channel Tags’ inside YouTube Creator Studios. Add all the keywords that you want to rank for inside the channel tags.
Similarly, while writing the script, add keywords in it too, usually at the start of the video, middle, and towards the end. Optimize the video description like a well-written article that contains proper keywords and tags, generally at the beginning of paragraph, mid, and end. A keyword at the beginning of the title of your video is a must, otherwise, it won’t rank unless you are a really big celebrity or a public figure.
In every video, don’t forget to urge your viewers to perform an action such as like, and subscribe at the start after an intro and at the end. Also, pin a comment that entertains your audience and compels them to follow you. If you are not doing these things, then you are not even trying and visitors will leave immediately after watching the video.
In addition to that, make use of the following YouTube features to optimize your channel to its fullest.
- Custom subscribe button at the bottom right corner of the video.
- Add ‘Most Popular’ videos in the channel layout.
- Create a separate dedicated intro video.
- Organize Playlists.
- Make use of cards and end screens.
If you are struggling with increasing watch time, publish videos that are at least 5 minutes long and extremely engaging with your target audience. In addition to the things mentioned above, create social media accounts such as Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Link your channel with these social sites and grow your brand outside YouTube as well for a longer run. Building backlinks to your videos, creating a separate website for your channel, and embedding videos on that particular channel are some additional steps for channel growth.
In a conclusion, channel growth matters more as making money solely depends upon the number of views you get per day. As a quick tip, the audience from tier 1 country gives more CPC (Cost Per Click) than others which is good to target. In this way, I hope you enjoyed my guide on how to earn money from youtube in Nepal and learned something from it. Besides creative commons videos, streaming is another source of income that you can try as well. Good Luck and now it is your turn.
