My 2019 Rewind: Journey From 0 to 30K Monthly

On the 22nd of December 2019, Mayaprakash and Advanced Blog will have their 3rd anniversary. I wanted to write my 2019 rewind to inspire people and take blogging seriously.

This article is all about how I went from zero to earning 30k monthly. This is going to be a long and boring if you are not a web developer or blogger. You can read other posts on my blog instead.

About me

For new readers, I am Mayaprakash Panth, aka Mahesh, aka Max Dai, founder of mayaprakash.com.np, Advanced Blog, and outlook Appins.

I am a civil engineering student by education and blogger by occupation.

A year ago, I never imagined that I would turn into an entrepreneur and be living a boss free life.

I have dedicated 6+ years of my life learning Search Engine Optimization, UX, blogging, and helping clients grow their business.

And in this story, I am going to share how I changed my life starting a new journey in my blogging career.

How did I start blogging?

I started blogging back in 2014 because I always wanted to be a writer. Back then, I didn’t have the resources to write a book, so I begin to blog.

Like most of the newbies out there, I started off with the Blogspot platform.

I was a topper in my batch in IT, programming, and computer skills.

The first domain that I always wanted and registered later was mayaprakash.com.np

I immediately started ranking for local keywords in 2015, which I had no idea how it happened.

Later, in 2016, I purchased advancedblog.com and migrated to WordPress.

But I wasn’t sure about what niche should I work on and started posting random stuff, just part-time due to my studies.

In 2017, I had to pause my blogging career due to my job. I worked as a site in-charge at a small dam construction project for one year.

The Accident That Changed My Life & First Income (2019 Rewind)

In 2018, I got my AdSense account approved, as the toughest challenge so far in my blogging career. But at the end of 2018, I was having a hard time making money out of it because of low traffic and CTR (click-through-rate).

I was barely making between $5 to $10 USD monthly, which was not even close to 10% of the $100 threshold. The problem was that I wasn’t doing it full time.

I left my job in 2019. I went to attend the engineering exams. I was traveling from home to the examination city by bus just a day prior to the exams. I was on the window seat when suddenly another bus came out of nowhere from the opposite direction and collided with our vehicle.

I lost a lot of blood, damaged my forehead, fractured my nose, and I was hospitalized. Luckily, I survived the accident. But the hardest thing for me after the accident was to live by failing to attend the most important exams in my life.

I was completely lost and broken. I was like: What am I going to do now? What are the people going to say at my back? It was a horrible thing ever other than the bus crash and almost the end of the world for me.

I had no option left. I didn’t have a job, no degree or college, and I was getting depressed. I was getting mentally tortured and it took a lot of effort for me to get over with it.

But then I knew, I still had a chance left because of the skills within me and my passion that was still alive.

The biggest change came when I decided to learn. I started learning practically. I became an influencer in growth hacking, keyword research, coding, and complete technical on-page SEO audit in just a time span of two months.

During the process, I went so deep that sometimes I used to stood awake up to 2 am in the night while learning. People used to see me online and they were like: “What the heck is this guy doing? This kid is mad.”

I was different and changed my mindset then. Most people sit back and relax without applying what they’ve learned. But I started to act accordingly and applied my skills with everything in my arsenal step by step, building my own template in excel and making a checklist.

I worked smartly for 6-8 hours a day, without taking a day-off on the weekends. I was there even on Saturdays and Sundays.

Just like a saying, Hard work pays off, I got the results I worked for. I ranked a plethora of articles and went on making money that was hard to believe.

I was easily able to pass the $100 threshold.

Then, just a month later, I started earning around $180-$200 monthly. That’s equivalent to Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 22,000 Nepali currency.

When I started growing, I made from Rs. 27,000 to 30,000 NPR monthly, in just a span of 2 months. This is a good amount that one could ever earn by sitting at home.

The Future

My next Target for 2020 is to increase the earnings by Rs. 50,000+ or above monthly, approximately $500+ USD, up to 1 lakh NPR maybe someday in the future. I aim to achieve financial freedom before my next exams.

In addition to that, I will be joining M Tanveer Nandla’s classes of SEBT Batch-5 to learn event blogging, affiliate marketing, freelancing, and get exclusive access to his SEO case studies that bring millions of users every month. He is a top #1 blogger award winner from Pakistan and has made up to 9 lakh NPR in a single day from blogging.

I will continue the journey and keep learning to become a complete expert who could handle big projects.

At the time of writing this, I own four different sites and I’m planning to grow them through smart work. Only time can tell my fate but I will make sure it remains in the palm of my hands. I’m just 22 by now.

Meanwhile, tell me in the comments if you have any suggestions or feedback. I will heartily appreciate that. [C U]
